Referral Process

When to Refer

Our emphasis is on early intervention and so we recommend you make a referral to the Primary Inclusion Team as soon as you have a concern about a child presenting with SEMH needs.

How to Refer

Please complete our referral form and an Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire and send it to pitreferrals@salford.gov.uk

Please note that we must have parental consent before we can undertake an observation.

What you can expect

You can expect to hear from us within 48 hours of sending the referral form. We aim to complete an initial visit and observation of the child within the following three weeks. It is important at that initial visit that we see the child during a normal school day.

After the initial visit we complete a report with recommended strategies to help support the child’s SEMH needs.

We return 6 weeks after we send the report to assess the impact of the strategies and plan next steps.
